Snaggletooth Cat Rescue
A not for profit cat rescue serving the animals in Ingham County, Michigan and beyond.
🐾 Welcome to Snaggletooth Cat Rescue 🐾
At Snaggletooth Cat Rescue, we believe every cat—no matter how scruffy, shy, or snaggletoothed—deserves a shot at love. Founded in April 2025, we’re a foster-based cat rescue based in Ingham County, proudly serving Lansing, Michigan, and the surrounding 20-mile radius. Our focus? Saving cats and kittens from high-risk, high-kill shelters where space is limited and lives hang in the balance.
From bottle babies to bonded pairs to the one-eyed wonders who steal your heart, we’re here to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome the cats that need us most. If you’re looking to adopt a cat in Lansing, help cats in need, or just want to be part of something full of heart (and a little cat hair), you’re in the right place.

Meet the Women Behind the Whiskers
Snaggletooth was founded by three big-hearted women with a shared passion for saving lives and rolling up their sleeves to do the hard work behind every happy adoption photo.
Sisters with years of hands-on rescue experience joined forces with their longtime neighbor—an experienced nonprofit bookkeeper and proud cat mom—to create something special. With backgrounds in accounting, business administration, medical care, and more, these three aren’t just cat lovers—they’re cat warriors.
And the name? Inspired by Sue Ellen, a one-toothed rescue cat with a sassy smirk and serious survivor vibes. She reminded us that imperfection is beautiful—and that every “snaggletooth” deserves to be celebrated.

If you’re looking to adopt a cat in Lansing or anywhere in Ingham County, we’ve got a crew of lovable, quirky, and oh-so-ready kitties waiting to meet you. Our cats come in all ages, sizes, and personalities—from lap loungers to zoomie champions.
We take pride in matchmaking. Thanks to years of rescue experience, we get to know our kitties well—so we can pair you with the cat that fits your lifestyle, your vibe, and your snuggle schedule.
Thank you for considering adoption
🙌 Volunteer Like a Meow-ssion Hero
We’re a small but mighty rescue—and that means every helping hand matters. If you want to volunteer with cats in Lansing or the surrounding area, we’ve got a spot with your name on it.
From cuddling shy kitties and feeding hungry babies to organizing donations or helping with transports, there’s a way for you to lend your paws. Experience is great—but all you really need is a heart for rescue and a willingness to jump in.
🏡 Fostering Saves Lives—Literally
Thinking about fostering a cat in Lansing? You’re in the right place. Fostering gives us the ability to rescue more cats than our own homes can hold. It’s the bridge between a crowded shelter and a forever family—and it’s one of the most powerful, hands-on ways to help.
Whether you’ve got experience with bottle babies or just a quiet space and a big heart, we’ll support you every step of the way. We provide the supplies, cover medical expenses, and cheer you on. You provide the love (and maybe a few cardboard boxes to nap in).
Support Our Mission
Snaggletooth Cat Rescue runs on love, lint rollers, and the generosity of folks like you. Whether you're making a one-time donation, becoming a monthly giver, or sending supplies from our wishlists, every bit of support helps us rescue more cats in need here in Lansing and across Ingham County.
Your monetary donations cover vet bills, food, medicine, and emergency care for the cats we pull from high-risk shelters. Prefer to give in-kind? We’re always in need of things like kitten formula, soft blankets, wet food, and toys to keep tails wagging and purrs going strong.
No matter how you choose to give, you’re making an impact—and we’re so grateful for you.
What is a high-kill shelter?
Our main focus is saving cats and kittens from being euthanized at high-kill, open-admission shelters. An open admission shelter simply means that the shelters practice euthanasia on healthy and treatable animals, often due to limited space or resources, rather than reserving euthanasia only for animals with severe medical conditions or untreatable behavioral issues that cannot be rehabilitated. Essentially, shelters may euthanize cats to open up spaces even if the cats could potentially be adopted. This practice at high kill open admission shelters results in typical euthanasia rates of anywhere from 50% to 80%. One of our goals at Snaggletooth Cat Rescue is to lower the euthanasia rates at high kill shelters by getting these kitties into our rescue and finding them the loving families they deserve.
